Meeting Recap for January, 2004
Our January 2004 GRAFUG Meeting went very well. Thanks again to Jan Wells for the donuts!!
The Fox team at Microsoft has officially announced that VFP 9 (code-named Europa) will be available for public beta in the first half of 2004. They will officially release/launch VFP 9 at DevCon at the end of September.
The one-day .NET training class that we are attempting to put together with Kevin McNeish seems to be coming together okay. There was a good amount of interest to make it worth our while to pursue it. We have picked May 1, 2004 as the date and it will probably be in Lansing. Stay tuned for more information on this class as it develops!!
Database Documentation utility by Mike Potjer:
Mike demonstrated his utility that generates documentation of tables and views in a database (or free tables) by sending them to Microsoft Word. His utility began with code from Dan Freeman and he has incorporated many modifications throughout the years. Because the utility started years ago and doesn’t use the newer OOP automation features, it’s backwards compatible with many older versions of Word.
The utility is smart enough to hook into Stonefield Database Toolkit and Visual Maxframe’s referential integrity as long as those items are available.
Mike’s tool gave us all a great insight into creating documents in Word through VFP!! Thanks, Mike!!
The February meeting is scheduled for February 14, 2004 (Valentine’s Day!) So far we don’t have a topic lined up but we’re working on it!! If you’d like to volunteer, please contact me!!
